photos from Casa Del Mar on Cozumel....

This is the rather plain Jane room that we had at Casa del Mar Dive Resort.  But, the room was clean, the bedding was clean.  The tiles on the floor were Un-broken.  They did have an old fashioned key for the room, rather than an electronic system. They also didn't have a safe in the room.  But, that wasn't that big of a problem.  The maids seemed really professional.  They even had them wearing uniforms, which was kind of fun to see.  We tipped the maids a couple of dollars and they did a good job with our room.  But, boy-oh-boy, this bed was hard in comparison to the beds at Le Reve. Downstairs at the front desk they had old fashioned two key system safety deposit boxes.  We didn't use them because we were about out of money anyway.  So, I just kept my wallet with us wherever we went. We ate at the hotel's restaurant that first night.  Of course, I had the Steak Tampequena.  That is it pictured above. Heather had ...

2017 Le Reve Photos

So, I've tried to describe the beach at Le Reve.  It isn't the amazing beach that you would find farther down the coast at Playacar, but it is still really quite nice.  The sand is protected by a rocky shelf that is right at the water line.  That rocky area makes it hard to enter into the water right in front of the resort.  But, it isn't that hard to walk down the beach to a better access area.  We would normally walk up and down the beach several times during the course of the day. "The Beach at Le Reve" part 1 The second portion of "The Beach at Le Reve" Here is a photo that Heather took of me relaxing on the beach.  You can see the beautiful Caribbean Sea in the background.  I am laying back taking in the sun and listening to an audio book. For one of the meals Heather ordered a stuffed chicken breast.  It was delicious. They seemed to go the extra mile trying to make the plates of food special.  Here is Heathe...

2017 Cancun -- Pt 2

Image
Our trip to Mexico could easily by described as a two part trip.  The first half we spent at Le Reve Spa and Resort.  The second half of the trip was spent on the Island of  Cozumel.  What a beautiful island.  You can get to the island two ways.  Either by ferry or airplane.  Taking the ferry cost Heather and I $8.00 one way.  That is dirt cheap if you ask me. We needed to check out of Le Reve at noon.  Yet we couldn't really check into our next hotel until 3:30 or so.  It seems like we have often shown up at these kinds of places and they don't have our room ready.  Therefore, we arranged to leave our bags at the front desk at noon and go hang out and have lunch. We kept our swimsuits on and put a change of clothing in our beach bag so that we'd be able to change into real clothes when we were ready to really leave the resort.  It was nice that they allowed us to hang around and eat their food and drink their drinks be...

Cancun 2017

Image
---- Transportation We had a wonderful time in Playa Del Carmen this past week.  It was a nice relaxing trip.  I know that I titled this post as Cancun 2017 but that is because few people have heard about Playa Del Carmen.  Playa Del Carmen is a town a little less than an 45 minutes south of the Cancun Airport. I found a good article on the web  http://everythingplayadelcarmen.com/how-to-get-from-cancun-airport-to-playa-del-carmen/ that gave all of the good options for getting from the airport to Playa Del Carmen.  In fact, Heather and I have tried several of those options.  We have taken a taxi, taken the ADO Bus, and also USA Transfers. This time around we opt'ed for taking Cancun Shuttle .  It was $24 a person.  There is always a chance when taking a shuttle that we'd need to stop at a couple of other hotels along the way but I figured for the savings that it would be worth it to us.  We were getting into the airport at 10:00 am ...

A mission call

It is time for Austin to get his mission call. We will see how this goes. Heather gets home from work at about 7:00 PM tonight. I have mutual that starts at 7:00. My folks are supposed to be at the house for the opening of the mission call at about 6:45. Like I said, we will see how the whole thing pans out.
